As the year draws to a close it is a good time to reflect on all that has happened throughout the last twelve months. The biggest change for me has been the arrival of Shadow and I can honestly say that life has not been the same since. There are highs and lows, but if I’m being honest I’d miss her if she wasn’t here. The work on our new house is drawing to a close and it is almost time to move from the house we’ve lived in for nearly two years. It’s been a good house, if you discount the drive being impossible to negotiate in the snow. It’s time to don the rose tinted spectacles and overlook that fact that we have been a bit cramped. I prefer to look at it as cosy. I shall miss my favourite spot, half way up the stairs, where I can lie facing the front door and watch the world go by through the window. Not very much of the world goes past our house but every so often a dog goes by and I get to bark madly.

My Mistress has had a reasonable amount of success with her writing in the last year and I am proud to say I’ve achieved my highest ever readership. No one in the family got swine flu or any other type of flu and all of us have been in reasonable health. On balance, I think 2009 has been a good year. Not outstanding but overall it has had more good than bad and we finish it looking forward to many exciting prospects in 2010. I’ll come back to the whole question of New Year’s resolutions tomorrow. I think I need to give them a bit more thought. Perhaps in this age of technology, I should be setting myself a target for Twitter followers, but then I need to come up with something interesting to say. I’m finding it hard to be witty and profound in soundbite form.
