Tuesday 5th April 2016 – Today is biopsy day

Shadow and Alfie

I’m off to the vets to have my biopsies today. I am not looking forward to it. It’s not helped by the fact that I have not been allowed to eat anything since last night and I’m hungry. I get very grouchy when I’ve not been fed so you can get something of an idea what our household is like this morning. Not getting my bedtime biscuit was bad enough, but waking up hungry and making our Mistress get up early has not gone down well and come 7.15 when the full impact of not being able to eat or have my daily chew hits me I will be very hard to live with! Anyway, it gives me something to look forward to when I come home. If it’s anything like usual when I have to have an anaesthetic our Mistress is going to have a worse morning than I am. She tends to be very shaky when I have to go under, whereas I just think of happy fields of rabbits waiting to be chased and I’m fine. The time I had my first operation was the worst. She sat in a café in the Netherlands drinking strong coffee while she waited for me and by the time she picked me up she was a total quaking wreck could barely hold her purse without dropping it. Oh she was in a state. I was fine, but when she got back to collect me and pay the vet they didn’t take credit cards and she had to go out to find a cashpoint before she could take me away. It just about finished her off! Anyway, I shall just remind her that I was fine then and it might be nearly ten years since that first one, but I’m sure I’ll be fine now. She will be taking Aristotle swimming so hopefully that will help take her mind of things too.

  1. Good Luck Alfie! We are thinking of you and will have our fingers and paws crossed.
    Lots of love Dickens XXXXXXX

  2. Good luck, Alfie – it’ll soon be over, and then you can have a snack, a great reward for being the little soldier that you always are. Hugs!

    • Thank you. He’s just gone. Our Mistress is feeling very jumpy. I think she’s going to take Shadow for a walk to calm down.
