Tonight it is the quiz in our local pub. The rule is that if you win the quiz then you set the next one. It has worked out that on average my humans win about every six months, which given that sometimes there aren’t many teams taking part, isn’t a record to be proud of. I have pointed out that they are depriving themselves of a unique opportunity by not taking me with them as part of the team. Shadow isn’t a very widely read dog yet and she has never shown an inclination to use the internet, so I don’t think it would help to take her along, except to use as the mascot and distract the other teams. My Master and James are doing tonight’s quiz, although my Mistress has also set some of the questions. I have been made to promise faithfully not to give away any of the questions before it takes place, but suffice it to say that I am finding it very difficult.
I was so busy spouting on about smoking and drugs yesterday that I completely overlooked that it was Independence Day. Of course, independence is something that would have had more meaning to me if I hadn’t been stuck in kennels with a manic puppy, but at least we are off home this afternoon. Shadow doesn’t seem to dream of independence in the same way that I do. She needs company and if the cost of that is to do as she’s told then it is a price she is willing to pay. Oh, I need my Mistress but deep down I do feel the wild calling me every so often and it’s very frustrating that I can’t respond to the call.
