I got out of the wrong side of bed this morning. Well to be honest it was more the right side but the wrong time. My mistress has gone to London for the day and insisted on waking me when she came down for breakfast at 5am. With the time difference that is 4am English time, she is going to be asleep before she even gets to her meeting! Why she felt the need to wake me up she didn’t say but in the end she left leaving me in the capable hands of my master! To be fair he did remember to give me breakfast and to let me outside so it isn’t going so badly. I don’t really fancy a day on my own but I think our next door neighbour is calling round to see me later so I will have someone to bounce on for a while. On the good side it does delay the removal of my stitches by a few hours.

Why do people keep thinking I look like a beagle? I know I may be Swiss by origin and am living in Belgium and that people may not be as familiar with my breed but how many times do I have to tell them I am an Entlebucher. I know it is hard to pronounce, if you are English speaking anyway, probably not if you speak Swiss German, but that is what I am. I will agree that beagles look cute and I do like Snoopy. I also realise my nose is a very similar shape and I do like walking with my nose to the ground. I am also the same three colours but mainly black. That is, however, where the similarities end. I have never smoked in my life and I don’t go hunting. I say I am mainly black but I have been very alarmed to find three small patches of white hair on my back since I lost my puppy hair. It is as though I am starting to go grey already and I’m not even eleven months old. I keep checking to see if they are still there but sadly they seem to be permanent. I have suggested to my mistress she could dye them black to match the rest but she just laughed at me and told me not to be so vain.
