By the time my Mistress got home yesterday, having not slept on the plane from New York at all, she was very tired. I suggested she could go to bed, but she said she would be better trying to get through the day so she adjust her body clock back to UK time. She is not being helped by an odd phenomenon which has occurred on the desk clock in her absence. The clock is radio controlled, so in theory it should always show the right time. However at 5.40pm yesterday (15th July) it was showing 11.40pm on the 28th March 2000. You might think that battery had gone and it had restarted from 1st Jan 2000 but as my Mistress has only been away for 10 days, and it was right before she went, it can’t possibly have moved through nearly three months. She is wondering if part of her desk has gone back in time by 14 years. That led to her trying to remember what she was doing back then, but I didn’t bother and I knew I wasn’t even a twinkle in my dad’s eye back then.
D’Artagnan is very happy to be home, mainly because he said he was getting fed up with being used as a pillow and feels a bit out of shape from the experience. He’d had a good time though and said he might volunteer to travel on a future trip if he is needed. I told him I’d got the next two trips covered so he could take the rest of the summer off. I must admit he did look a bit disappointed. I think it’s going to be a few days before they really know what day and time it is.
