Shadow wishes it to be known that she has changed her mind. At this point she thinks meeting Rino was a bad idea and she doesn’t think she wants to have puppies after all. She does not like having a great weight to carry round with her, she’s fed up with waddling rather than walking and she’s having serious doubts about whether she wants to go through the process of giving birth. I did try to be sympathetic, but I think she might be a little hormonal. As I tried to hold her paw she pulled it away and snapped at me that if it hadn’t been for my kind in the first place she wouldn’t be in this mess. At that point I thought it might be better to retreat to my bed and let my Mistress deal with her.
I suppose with only two weeks to go I can understand why she might be getting worried and she does seem to be much larger than I was expecting at this stage. It will not be the time for honesty if she asks me ‘does my bum look big in this?’
The hedgehog food is being eaten on a daily basis but we don’t really know who by. That could be a good sign as it means the food is being eaten at night. I asked if we could set a webcam up on the hedgehog house next, but my Mistress seems to think she has enough to worry about in keeping an eye on Shadow, maybe I should wait until the puppies are all grown up and leave home and then try asking again. We could have put a little camera inside the box so we could watch the hedgehog while she was asleep and then maybe if she has hoglets we could have watched them too. I may just be trying to compensate for not being able to have puppies of my own.
