I think my Mistress is stressed. She turned up at the wrong village chapel for a funeral service yesterday and then didn’t have time to get to the right village without being very late. In between all that we spent most of the day at the old house trying to get it clean with me and Shadow having to promise not to walk on the floor that has just been mopped or rub along the paintwork where it had been touched up. My Mistress thought it was safer for her to take us with her rather than leave us to terrorise the builders who needed to come into the house to do one or two jobs. It didn’t help when Shadow on being introduced to one of the builders took against him because he was wearing gloves at the time.

I am delighted to say that I have been given a bed right by my Mistress’s feet under the desk. Shadow had already claimed the couch and was lording it over me when my Mistress decided to rectify the situation and find me a comfortable spot. After that Shadow wouldn’t sit still and marched up and down in protest.

It occurs to me that I have been so wrapped up in moving that I don’t even know what happened in the recent budget. Has there yet been an announcement on the key issue of pensions for working dogs? Have we been granted our own tax allowances? I will look into it and let you know.
