In storage we have duplicates of all sorts of things. Hopefully they will be redelivered by the beginning of February. The burning question is whether the items that are in the process of breaking down will be prepared to keep working until then, or whether we might be in an emergency situation. The steamer could wait, there are alternatives to that, but the coffee machine! In this house it is about the most essential item. At the end of the day, if my Mistress used those throw away coffee filters it would probably cost us as much between now and then as buying a new machine.
I’m would be sitting here biting my nails today as my little car was supposed to have gone to the garage for a service and MOT. However, thanks to the snow it is stuck in the garage and won’t be going anywhere for a while. The fateful delay is being delayed until the snow clears. I am still worried about the actual MOT test. On the positive side, it hasn’t done very many miles since last year, but on the negative side it is now eleven years old, which does not make it young in car terms. I am just hoping it passes and we don’t get told there is anything very much wrong with it.
It’s hard to believe that it will be Christmas day on Friday. It would be nice to spend it in our new house but unless we wanted to be surrounded by half finished bits then it really isn’t an option. The fireplace is in, so we could have had a log fire, but only if we were prepared to have it in a room with bare plaster walls and without any carpet or lighting. I said I was game, but unfortunately I was outvoted. I think the fact that the cooker isn’t operational yet might have had something to do with it.
