We’ll run the competition for free tickets for Discover Dogs when the tickets are safely in my paws and ready to send out. However, I can tell you a little bit about the company that is sponsoring the prize. One of the things I complain about in the Pet Dogs Democratic Party Manifesto is the number of places that refuse admission to dogs. If a human is out with their dog, then the dog needs to be able to go to the same places the human goes to. It isn’t safe, especially in a city, to leave your best friend outside while you go into places. Anything could happen to us. Some places will tolerate our going in, but there are not many places that positively welcome us. The Metro Bank goes as far as having as one of its mottos ‘Dogs Rule!’ and you can’t say fairer than that.
Now given how difficult it is to find a good bank at the best of times, one that offers goodies to your dog when you take him in with you has got to be a serious consideration. They go even further and actually refund the cost of getting a pet from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home to their customers who go down that route. Now whilst I’m reluctant to support anyone getting a CAT, I am pleased to note the maximum refund is more for a dog than for a cat so they have got some of their priorities right.
The pictures on their website seem to show dogs working in the bank and managing their own accounts, and if that turns out to be the case I shall be opening my own account shortly. But either way it is refreshing to find that some recognise the importance of giving our kind access and I am delighted that they got in touch with me.
