Immediately after I heard my Mistress on the phone to the vet, I set out to prove I was just fine. When she went to the back door to take Shadow out, I ran to the door and said I wanted to go too. I happily put my harness on and when we got to the walk I skipped along full of the joys of spring. Unfortunately there was no kidding her and she didn’t cancel my vet visit. I was weighed and examined and then I had to have blood taken. Well you know what I’m like with the sight of a needle. I put my head under my Mistress’s arm so I wouldn’t have to see it, but then when our vet tried to put it in my right leg I panicked and pulled my leg away. She then had to switch to my left leg, where there was a better vein, but apparently I have lowish blood pressure so it took ages to get any blood out. She got there just before I panicked again and she had to take the needle out. I was feeling pretty sorry for myself by the end of all that. I shan’t get all the results for a couple of days, but she thinks it might be as simple as having a low level of niggling pain from my back problem. I just hope she’s right. In the meantime my Mistress has said we’d all get on a lot better if I’d be prepared to go out for walks more often and I’ve said I’ll give it some thought as long as she can make sure the weather stays dry. Ari and Shadow might be prepared to go out in the rain but I am not and never have been.
