It’s very odd coming back from a weekend away to find a section of your garden is not the way you’d left it. As a dog you feel it your duty to ensure that your territory is under your control and when that is thwarted by the plans of humans you get an uncomfortable feeling. Oh, I know I had to supervise the arrival of the ‘aggregate’ and I know in theory what is going on, but I didn’t actually expect anything to happen while I wasn’t here to keep an eye on it. I need to able to say ‘careful where you tip that barrow load’ and other such profound expressions. The oddest thing is the ‘small’ tree branch that was not connected to the tree that needed to be removed for safety. Now that it is down from where it was dangling it looks huge! It’s just a good job it didn’t descend of its own accord. I’ve checked out where the ground has been levelled, and I must say that I could not have done it better myself and as for the hard work in shifting a tonne of small stones and getting them in place well I’m glad I was only planning to supervise! I’m now looking forward to the next stage and hoping it is while I’m around to help hinder operations. (I would just like to point out that that alteration was made by my Mistress who seems less certain of my talents).
The discussions on the impact of Shadow not being pregnant are continuing in our house. The negotiations are long and drawn out, but last I heard there was a compromise on the table which if it can be made to work will keep everyone happy including Shadow. You should see our Mistress’s reaction when people say ‘Well, does it matter if you mate Shadow again?’ You can almost see the steam coming out of her ears at that point. She replies that she has been passionate about developing our breed for a number of years and for her it comes before almost everything… almost!
