My Mistress is clumsy at the best of times, but most of the time it doesn’t result in breakages. However, she’s been under the weather recently and that isn’t a good combination! Anyway, the first casualty was Shadow’s bowl. It was already chipped and did have a hairline crack on the outside, but Shadow was very attached to it. It had been her bowl since she was a puppy, as has mine. My Mistress picked it up to put it away. One minute she was holding it and the next it was in several pieces on the floor. Shadow was distraught and my Mistress was very remorseful. As a temporary measure she’s using Shadow’s old bowl. I had suggested she could have Megan’s bowl, which is much prettier, but my Mistress couldn’t bring herself to give that one to Shadow. Shadow pretended not to care, but I could tell she did really. A couple of hours later our Mistress got a bowl out of the cupboard for her own use and the next thing I knew there was a crash and that was in several pieces on the floor. Fortunately that particular bowl wasn’t anyone’s favourite. I wasn’t taking any chances, I moved all my stuff out of the way. I’m just hoping that’s an end of it.
My Mistress went to finish the Christmas shopping yesterday and she says that with the exception of our presents she now has everything. How can she think she has finished if she hasn’t got our presents? Surely they are the most important? Aristotle saw a picture of Basil dressed as a Christmas pudding and now he wants an outfit. My Mistress said he’ll have to buy his own, and he doesn’t think that is such a good idea. She said he should have one that says ‘Dear Santa, I have not been good this year.’
