Saturday 6th December 2014 – My Sister Dora

It’s Aristotle here again. How have you been? Anyway, I’m going to update you on my full sister Dora today. She was called Avril when she was born. She was quite small too, but once she got over that she found her bossy side if I remember rightly! Character wise I think she was the one in our litter who was most like Mum. It was funny when they saw each other at the last fun day, they had a bit of a discussion on which of them would be top dog. For my part I don’t think I’d argue with either of them. Although I did give my mum a warning last night when she trod on me to get to our Mistress when we were snuggled up on the settee. To be fair she ignored me and walked straight over me, but I did have the courage to say something even though I was ignored.

Anyway, this is what Dora’s human has written about her.

‘Well, what to say about Dora the explorer, or little miss bossy boots.  She is, as you know, an Alpha female, and she has tried and tested us over the last three years. We’d say come, she’d say go, We’d say yes, she’d say no, and then all of a sudden at three years of age she had us trained and  we now have a wonderful loving relationship. I am not sure if Dora is now trained and calm or if we are. She is the leader of the pack and we are only too happy to allow her to herd us and protect us.

We are proud parents. When we walk her people stop us and admire her and Dora is charming.  She comes when we call, sits, waits, stays and runs like a race horse, she is even  nice to all their dogs. Admirers  ask where they can find another dog like Dora. Not possible we say, Dora is unique.  It would be lovely to have another Entlebucher for Dora to play with.

There is one issue with Dora, THE BALL. she becomes hysterical and leaps all over us

grabbing at our clothes and hands to get back HER ball.  This is the week  that we have decided to do some serious ball fetch and carry training. Who knows, she may decide to give in and play the game our way or we might just hide all the balls for a quiet life.

She is the most lovely and loved dog and we often wonder what we did before we had her. We were going to travel the world, how boring when we can put Dora on the back seat of the car and share our holidays with her watching her chase the birds and race through the forests of Europe.  We  sigh and remember when we were going to take three months on a world trip but three months without Dora would be impossible, she would be sending texts telling us to get back home.

We couldn’t be without her, she talks to us and gives us the look, and we just adore miss bossy boots.’

Good luck with the training. At least her mum knows when to stop, although woe betide you if you get your hand in the way when she tries to take something she thinks is hers! I’ll see you all again tomorrow.

Ari.
