Friday 5th December 2014 – Not alone

It turns out that I’m not alone in wanting to get up at 5am. It was lovely to hear from friends and family in Switzerland yesterday that they do that too. I’m sure their humans are as impressed as mine is, but when a dog’s got to go he’s got to go. In their case it’s ‘she’s got to go’ but the same principle. I’ve got things down to a fine art. My Mistress has given up on sleeping on the couch in the office afterwards as she doesn’t sleep so well. Shadow goes into the front room so she doesn’t jump on my Master, and my Mistress and I go back upstairs. I have then worked out that if I refuse to settle she will throw the bed covers back so I can get in with her and then we snuggle down together for an hour or so. We used to do that, but then with Shadow sleeping in the room we had to stop as it would mean she jumped on the bed. It seems that in the end I have found the way to get just what I want again, which all makes me a much happier dog. A little bit selfish, but much happier!

Our Mistress has to get up very early on Monday morning anyway, so she’ll probably thank me. Her car has been recalled by the manufacturer and she needs to get the work done. The only problem is that they no longer have a garage anywhere near where we live and so she has to make a special journey just to get the car fixed. They have said it can be done immediately she arrives and while she waits as long as she gets there by 8.30am! With the traffic that’s going to mean leaving home at 7 so she’s not best pleased. She was going to do the winter tyres on Monday so now that’s got to be Wednesday, unless Shadow’s season starts and she needs to get it done sooner.
