I’ve been forgetting to tell you about our carrots. When my Mistress pulled two up out of the ground, due to her inept gardening in not thinning them out, they had totally entwined themselves together. The end result is a heart shaped pair of carrots. She almost felt guilty separating them, but they were sacrificed in the name of eating and apparently tasted very good.
My Mistress has a friend here for the weekend so it’s a better human to dog petting ratio. It’s never good when there aren’t enough humans to go round, we tend to fight over them then, but when we can have one each it’s definitely better as long as I can have our Mistress. Ari seems to have boundless energy at the moment so I think he’s taking the option on a long walk. Shadow seems to have mellowed recently and entered middle age with a determined but gentle approach. Gentle that is as long as we don’t touch her chews or generally get in her way. The chew hierarchy is rigidly enforced. I’m only allowed the little chews, Ari is allowed the medium sized one as long as Shadow doesn’t want it at the precise moment that Ari has it. Shadow has whichever ones she wants and that included all the very big ones even though she can’t chew more than one at once and even though they are as big as she is she can regularly be found carrying them round the house just to keep an eye on them. You would think having reached the age of nearly 9 and being the biggest they would show me some respect, but it turns out age and size count for nothing in our house.
