Monday 14th July 2014 – the final leg

IMG_1422D’Artagnan didn’t send a photo of himself from yesterday, but sent one of Century City instead. It’s another restored Western town and he said was more like a film set than even the others were. Sadly it’s all now casinos but he promised he didn’t go into any of those. They were driving through the mountains to Boulder and saw some incredible scenery. There were deep gorges, D’Artagnan said it looked almost impossible that they had been formed by water cutting down through the rocks. Boulder was not so great, but it did have a nice restaurant that our Mistress was able to find some food in so she was happy. D’Artagnan wanted to go for an ice cream but she wouldn’t take him, which I think was mean, but you can’t argue with her. After that they drove to the airport to drop off the hire car. They are going to have an early enough start today without having to worry about the car. They got the shuttle to the terminal, checked in for tomorrow’s flights and then went to wait for the bus back to the hotel. After waiting for over half an hour they gave up and got a taxi. The taxi driver really didn’t want to go such a short distance and was quite rude. He told her she was supposed to have rung for the hotel bus, but she didn’t know that.

Last thing I heard they were all packed up and going to bed ready for a long day of flights today. They are excited to be coming home but sad to have to leave behind such lovely weather and scenery. My Mistress says she could get used to living somewhere like that, although she prefers the mountains to the plains – that’s good as we’re mountain dogs and I don’t think we’d like flat land so much.
