Thursday 26th June 2014 – The Swallow

I was only wondering how our friends the swallow were doing when one came in to see us yesterday. After the number of bird fatalities on the outside of the window my Mistress was most concerned that nothing untoward should happen to it. Thankfully the windows at the end of the office provide a good direct route out to flyers that can be corralled in that direction. There was a nasty moment when it mistook the cooker splash-back for the outdoors and tried to fly into it a couple of times. I have to say that my Mistress is getting quite good and herding birds. I wouldn’t like to see her try her skills on anything much larger, naturally unlike us she wasn’t born to it, but she learns fast.

We have to amuse ourselves this morning as she has her hospital appointment about the lump on her thyroid. I must say she is a little worried, so hopefully they will be able to give her some peace of mind. Her biggest concern is whether it impacts on her trip to America which is only just over a week away now.

She has already started to get out the things she needs to take, but that is partly because some of them are so odd. Because she has so many food allergies she is taking much of her food with her, but has needed to make sure that what she is taking will be allowed in by customs. She is going to need to declare it on arrival and hope they are all right about it.  America is not a country she wants to have a problem on entry and she knows from experience that they can be somewhat rough in the way they push their visitors around. It’s not a good advert for a company built on the importance of the consumer and customer service.
