Tuesday 24th June 2014 – Burning the weeds

We were shut out of the way when the flame weed-killer was put to the test. I was watching from the sanctuary of the window and to be honest I was very happy to be a little distance away. To be fair as my Master worked his way across the patio I started to realise that under the right control it wasn’t as dangerous as I had feared it might be, but then I did start from a very concerned position. My Mistress went for the cautious approach and had the hosepipe on standby, but except to water some of the plants it was not needed. It was amazing how much difference an hour’s work made to the patio. Most of the major weeds were toast. It will take another going over to get it looking really good and then maybe redoing at intervals, but it will work out much cheaper than chemical weed killer and is much more environmentally friendly, so all in all my Mistress is very happy. I think my Master had quite a bit of fun too. It’s probably very good stress relief.

I’m quite excited as we are all going on holiday. All five of us. My Master, Mistress, Shadow, Ari and me. It’s only for a weekend, but we are going to stay in a log cabin. It’s near a big cabin so it sounds just my sort of thing. My Mistress has talked to me and Ari about the possibility of going for a long walk, but she has said we can take all day over it, so I think I can manage and it should be soft underfoot so Ari should be ok. It would be the furthest I’ve ever walked if I do it, but my Mistress has promised we will have breaks after every half hour of walking so that I can recover properly and think she is going to work out if there is a place she could get the car and pick me up if I start to struggle. Don’t get me wrong, it’s only 8 miles but with my heart murmur I’ve always found long walks a bit difficult.
