Saturday 21st June 2014 – Playing With Fire

It’s not what you think and it wasn’t me! My Mistress wants to clear all the weeds on the patio and until yesterday there were two options. She could get down on her hands and knees and carefully remove each one of them. This would be time consuming, and result in a number of aching muscles. Or she could spray or water them with chemicals to kill them off. Although that would work in theory, she is trying to cut down the use of chemicals and in particular doesn’t want them used round the patio where her organic vegetables are growing. Now there is a third way. She has bought a machine that really should be called a dragon. It breathes fire, lots of fire. It burns the weeks to oblivion and is every man’s dream. No longer need he play with matches and odd bits of household goods left lying around, when man wants to create fire he can simply go outside and blast the weeds. I don’t suppose my Mistress will get a look in when my Master sees what she’s bought. She says if it gets him outside doing the gardening, then even though it is the destructive end of the scale, she will not complain. I, on the other paw, have been told to keep well out of the way. She doesn’t even want Aristotle to see it, for fear that he will decide to try his paw on something more than weeds while she is out!

It is Fun Day later today and in a quiet way I’m looking forward to it. I’m not sure I’m going for the whole thing but with Shadow excused because of her season there should be enough humans to take care of both me and Ari. The ones who are coming are either girls or puppies so I’m thinking it might not be too bad. It’s only the other male dogs that I struggle to get on with and Ari doesn’t count.
