Well the summer house is now back in use. Its use is having to be shared with several very large spiders that are lurking in corners out of the way. In the end my Mistress’s courage failed her and she decided that the spiders hiding was perhaps the best option and she would then pretend they weren’t there. Of course, that only works if they don’t suddenly appear while we are down there. I said we should get everything out but my Mistress said it sounded too much like hard work. All the puppy stuff is down there and it takes some moving.
On the subject of puppies, Shadow’s season has eventually started. Exactly nine weeks to the day over the 26 weeks it’s supposed to me, or more appropriately the length of her pregnancy with the puppies. There are some fairly dramatic implications of the timing. If her seasons are now exactly 26 weeks she will either be ready to mate on about 26th December or if she waits another six months she could give birth the day before my Mistress’s 50th birthday. Either way one lot of celebrations is going to have to be shelved. It’s really going to depend on the timing of our getting another puppy as my Mistress can’t be collecting a puppy at the same time as Shadow is having her next litter. It looks as though the 50th might be going out of the window, but she didn’t really want to get any older anyway.
The doctor has referred my Mistress to the hospital and said they should see her within a couple of weeks. It is good news that it will not be long but it still leaves the problem that she is likely to go to American not having had it sorted out. At least in one piece of good news the museum she wants to visit will be open for her, so she is now getting just a little bit excited.
