Every litter is different. This litter were easier to weigh in the early days and are now harder. For a start, they seem to sleep less during the day than other litters have, but that may well be because they sleep so well at night. When my Mistress comes to weigh them, she can almost guarantee that the minute she gets the scales out they will wake up and start playing. Then take pooing – they have been very tidy and apart from the odd occasion, it may just be one puppy! They do all their pooing in one corner of the pen. It makes it much easier to clean up and so far they have kept their toys out of the poo and pee much more than previous years which has meant the toys are not going through the washing machine quite so often. Their pattern of weight gain is different too and although it is still all positive it is definitely slower and it’s proving much harder to get them off the special formula that my Mistress was making up. We think it is sweeter and they may have developed a liking for the sweetness. Little by little we are getting there, but it is taking longer than we would expect.
Right today’s weights – Chekov is doing very well. He added 110g and is now 3400g. Cinderella added 50g and is now 3320g. Cracker added 90g and is now 3180g. Casanova added 50 and passed the magic 3kg to reach 3030g. Cosette added 80g to reach the 3kg point exactly. Little Cuddles is still little Cuddles. She only added 40g yesterday and is now 2570g. My Mistress is going to give her some more private meals as it is hard for her to push her way in against all the others. What she does not have in size at the moment she makes up for in personality. She is the most beautiful and cutest puppy you could imagine. I couldn’t resist this photo of her earlier curled up with her head on Cinderella.
