A very merry Christmas to all our readers. At this stage it doesn’t look very likely that I will be bringing you puppy news today but it is still a possibility.
There was some excitement yesterday when Shadow’s temperature went up in the morning before dropping back down again. My Mistress can’t decide if it is just an aberration or whether it is the peak before the drop. As I am writing this at 7pm on the night of Christmas Eve we are eagerly awaiting the next temperature taking at bedtime. If it goes down further I may have to rewrite this to fill you in on the excitement. Just in case it is the beginning, my Mistress has made the almost final preparations and has everything to hand that may be required. As my Mistress is very tired and not feeling very well I have been instructed to be on paw to wake her if anything starts to happen and she doesn’t hear it.
Shadow is really not very interested in normal food at all. Although she is hungry. The problem with giving her other things is that it slightly upsets her tummy as she’s not used to it. She has been tempted by liver most of all as well as some wet dog foods that are all very healthy and with no wheat in them. I managed to steal some on one occasion but got into big trouble for doing it. It’s so hard. Shadow basically has food available most of the time and it is a lot to ask a chap to leave it alone the whole time. There is one other thing I have been asked to stop doing. I know it is an instinct thing but I have a burning desire to pee wherever Shadow goes to the toilet to cover her scent. The problem is, I keep peeing on Shadow. I feel the need to cover her scent while she is still making it – which has proved disastrous on several occasions and has involved Shadow being taken in to be washed down. Hormones can do odd things to a boy!
