The time has come for my Mistress to write their Christmas letter. She has got as far as writing the list of topics that may be covered and now she has to give it some sort of order. I’ve been offering her writing tips but she hasn’t taken them very well. Aristotle on the other paw has been jumping up and down saying ‘tell them about…’ and whatever is the latest thought to enter his head. She would not normally declare it as ‘Christmas season’ until after her father’s birthday is out of the way, which is 4 days after mine. However she says that this year she wants to get started early so she can enjoy the run up to Christmas as the rest of it may be completely spoken for with puppies. She’s even remembered to buy the ingredients to make the Christmas cake and says we can help her with that on Sunday. Ari and I are the official clearers up, although she has to make sure there are no raisins and currants around before we assist. She eats any candied peal and cherries that are lying around so we don’t have any chance of those. It’s the marzipan stage we really enjoy as that’s our favourite.
My Mistress’s genetics course is proving interesting. It turns out we are related. I don’t mean me and Aristotle, but both of us with our Mistress. I always suspected a strong resemblance but thought it politic not to mention it. She says it certainly isn’t in recent times and both our lines have developed quite differently over the years, but somewhere in our dim and distant past we share more than the odd gene or two. Alarmingly we are also related to fruit flies and mice, but I can’t see that one quite as obviously.
