Thursday 7th November 2013 – Full of the joys of spring

It’s not me that’s full of the joys of spring, you understand, it’s Shadow. I tried asking her if she thought she was pregnant. She said she had no idea, but just felt happy anyway. I think it may be because my Mistress was at last feeling well enough to take her for a good walk. She positively skipped out of the front door, Shadow, not my Mistress! Aristotle on the other paw has done rather less skipping as he had to go to the vet to have his inoculations. He was rather braver about his kennel cough than I normally am. That’s the one that gets squirted up your nose. It may have helped that the vet approached him from behind and he didn’t see her coming. It was all over before he had chance to think about it. My Mistress said, the way he watched everything going on really carefully, she’s sure he has memorised where everything is in the surgery. That can only mean one of two things. Either he is planning to start training as a vet or next time he goes he is going to know what is happening simply by seeing which drawer the vet approaches. You have to hand it to him, the rest of us just bother to remember which is the biscuit drawer and have been known to go straight in and stand next to it, looking up at the vet with pleading eyes. It works too. Our vet is a real softie when it comes to looking after dogs.

I’m pleased to say that the annual Christmas letter has been written and printed. Now all we need to do is write the cards. I feature on some of the cards so apparently I can choose who they go to. To be fair I think it will be to people who I will never see again as they aren’t the most flattering of photos. I told her I didn’t want to wear the antlers!
