Thursday 15th August 2013 – Gent

We had a leisurely cruise from Bruges to Gent yesterday. We were in convoy in a flotilla of boats to go through the first few bridges. It’s amazing watching all the traffic having to wait for you to go underneath. Things spaced out after that and we saw very few boats going the other way. That’s something that has surprised me, how quiet the waterways are compared to when I went on the Norfolk Broads in England.

My Mistress was explaining to me one of the reasons she is so very fond of Aristotle. It’s because of his disability, well not actually the disability itself but the way he doesn’t complain and doesn’t stop him trying to do things. She says that’s why when he can’t do something she is so sympathetic and will go to any length to help him. I suppose when you look at it like that you can see her point.

Anyway, for me, today is the most exciting day of the holiday. I’m going to see my breeder. I’m hoping I may see my Mum too, but I suppose that will depend on how far she wants to walk and whether she can come into Gent to see me. I’ve been asked by both my Mistress and my Master if I can desist from barking at every other dog we see when we are in a busy place. Apparently when I’m in a café it is particularly bad form, but I just can’t resist. Ari just barks at random people he doesn’t like as we go along, but I tend to reserve my comments  for other dogs. Ari says he’s looking forward to meeting them too, but he’s most looking forward to meeting our friends’ dog when we stay there at the end of the holiday.
