Well, my Mistress got back from the hospital early yesterday afternoon. She was wearing a big purple foam sling round her right arm. At that point she couldn’t feel any pain as her arm was numb from the shoulder down. The funny part of that was that without the sling her arm was all floppy. Once the anaesthetic started to wear off she found that her hand hurt quite a bit! What has been entertaining has been watching her struggle to do everything with one hand. I really would love to lend a paw, but there are many things that my paws are really not designed to do. So far she has found the most difficult things to be removing a bottle top and putting her headphones on in order to use the voice recognition software. She is having to be quite ingenious to find ways of holding things in place. Sadly, she may be wearing the shirt she has on for several days. It’s either that or cutting it off which would be a dreadful shame. Thankfully she only has to wear the foam sling for a day or two until she has feeling back in all of her arm and hand. After that she can wear a normal sling. From my point of view the best bit has been the afternoon nap. It’s always nice to have some company when you want to curl up and go to sleep. It’s just the two of us today so I’m going to have to do my best to help, although that would be a lot easier if I had opposable thumbs.
Until now I thought I wanted to be an only dog, but I have to say it really is dreadfully quiet without the others around. Reluctantly I have to admit that I’m missing my playmates.
