Well my Master is still in bed and my Mistress is still looking after him. She wants to know whether this is building her up credits for when she needs to be taken care of next week. I asked whether she will be looking after me as well as this when I come back from the vets later. I’m actually writing this to try to take my mind off the fact that I have to have an anaesthetic in only an hour. I’m not really looking forward to it. I asked my Master whether he was sufficiently better so that I could have the walkie talkie instead of him when I come home. We’ve only got the two and otherwise it means sharing. I don’t mind having the other side of the bed to him, but he seems to not want too much movement around him at the moment and I will want to be close to my Mistress anyway. Shadow is going to find it strange having a day on her own. She’s used to having me around for company. I do hope she doesn’t get into too much mischief. I suppose I should be more worried that she will make herself at home in my bed, but I can’t see my Mistress letting her get away with that for very long.
The herb garden is nearly dug. It isn’t a big as my Mistress’s original intentions. I think the digging was too heavy going, but as she says she can expand it as she plants the area she has got. Now she is busy making a list of all the plants she needs to put in. I think she wants to grow most of them from seed, which could be a problem as it’s the wrong time of year for many of them. She may cheat and buy them as small plants. Some of the ones she wants are weeds. I’ve suggested she simply uses the ones in other parts of the garden and doesn’t bother transplanting them. She is anxious to make sure she gets exactly the right types. She doesn’t want to be using things that are poisonous by mistake –although I might feel the plot for a new novel coming on!
