You couldn’t make it up as the plot of a crime novel. A man in Guatemala arranged for a video to be put on You Tube saying that if people saw it that he had been murdered and the President of the country was to blame. When he turned up dead shortly afterwards the video was released to the world. However, it turns out that the ‘hit men’ who had been hired to undertake the killing had in fact been hired by himself and he was trying to frame the Government. If they were ever brought to justice, would it be a case of murder or of assisted suicide? Either way it was nothing to do with the Government of Guatemala and everything to do with the very sad mental state of the man concerned. I’m off to develop a plot in which a murder is staged, I’m not sure what’s going to happen next though.

A whole load of ‘futurologists’ have been considering what is going to happen in the future. With the advances in medical science, they believe that spare limbs will become relatively routine. They even suggest that a footballer who was injured might forgo recovery time in favour of having a new artificial limb replacement and then be back playing quickly. I would have thought that while it might be one thing coming up with working limbs that look and feel good to the person receiving them, there is a big difference to them then working in exactly the same way as the limb that was removed. Surely they person would need to be retrained in using it. The leg might react differently and be pretty useless at football. They might even switch from favouring their right foot to their left foot or vice versa. Of course I won’t be around in twenty years time to look back and say I was right, so if one of you could take note of this and do it for me, then I’d be very grateful.
