It’s good to have my master home, my mistress gets a bit boring after a while. Don’t tell her I said that though. She is much less likely to spend all day playing with me than my master is. We become like co-conspirators with her getting cross with both of us. Fortunately, my master is no more keen than being out in the cold or damp than I am, so we play indoors. He lights the fire too, which is always a plus point as far as I am concerned. What dog wouldn’t like the opportunity to stretch out in front of a blazing fire? I did ask if we could go for a walk in the hope of seeing my new friend Cuckoo. It might not be spelt like that, but that is how he said it. Cuckoo is a 4 month old Bassett Hound. He’s great, he reminds me of me when I was young, I can’t wait to have another puppy in the house. I might be a big strong dog now, but I can be very gentle when it comes to playing with a puppy. I thought the first addition to our family was due to arrive at the start of February, a Bearded Collie to be called Sooty, for James. Unfortunately I have got to be a bit more patient as there aren’t any being born at the moment so it might be a few more weeks before Sooty joins us, at this rate it will be the same time as I get my little girl Entlebucher for company. What a mad house that would be, two tiny puppies at the same time. I really will have to act the father figure and train them in the ways of the world. I hope they don’t just play with each other and leave me out. I wouldn’t like that very much at all.
