I saw my mum yesterday and it was awesome. I know people don’t think dogs have good memories but even though we hadn’t seen each other for a few years we both remembered each other. She’s getting quite old now so she didn’t come for the walk and we just saw her at the start of the afternoon. She asked me how I’d been and checked me over. When she had to go back to the car I just stood and watched her go and cried. Really I did. I know that grown men aren’t supposed to cry, but so would you if you hadn’t seen your mum for years and then she was going again. I cheered up when my Mistress said that we can call and see her again on Tuesday, although it will mean seeing my sister Esther as well and that may not be quite so good news.
We then went for a lovely drink with my breeders and it was just as lovely to see them. We sat out at a pavement café that was quite quiet as it was a public holiday here. It was the best day of the holiday so far. Ari enjoyed meting them too, even though it wasn’t quite the same for him.
Before all that happened we did have one minor crisis when we ran out of water and needed to fill up. Now, in theory that’s easy but where we were moored was too far from the tap for the hose we have. We had to move the boat down to a really small space that was hardly big enough for us to fit into. With the help of some lovely people who live on their boat for five months of the year we did manage and then had to move the boat back again so we were at the point where Aristotle could get on and off. My Master is doing very well at manoeuvring the boat, although I probably shouldn’t say that until we all get home safely.
