It has been a long night. My Mistress has managed the odd hour of sleep here and there while Shadow settled, but unlike last year the process is not proving a quick one for Shadow. My Mistress was rather nervous at 5 this morning when Shadow asked to go out and wanted to go to the darkest part of the garden. She needed to go out again at 6 and is now back in her nesting box having a wash. She appears to be having contractions so unless she is going to change her mind again we can’t be very far from some action beginning.
