2300 Fairy Lights
There are now 2300 fairy lights up around the garden. I haven’t actually counted them, but Mum has assured me that is how many we put up yesterday. We mainly barked encouragement rather than actually putting the lights up, but we had a great time being outside for so long. Mum learnt from her last year’s mistakes, so on the whole it all seemed to go quite well. All lights were tested before being put up. Nothing was put at a height that Mum needed a ladder for. Now we’re just waiting for the big switch on at the weekend. That’s always the funny part. Mum runs around trying to start them all on their timers within a minute or two of each other.
Important discovery
Mum made an important discovery in the process of putting the lights up. Two of the neighbours and their dog tried to come and say hello. Of course, we barked so poor Mum couldn’t really hear a word of what was being said, but the discovery was that I could jump through the trellis fence. I thought I’d got away with it, but Mum caught my collar at the last moment to stop me. Neat move on her part, but a big disappointment on mine. I’m now under garden supervision while she waits for the wire to come that is needed to make the front fence Wilma proof. I’ve spotted a couple of gaps in the side fences too, so I think Mum has plans for a general building of defences.
Santa
Today’s Christmas decoration challenge is to see if we can secure Santa to the roof safely – safe that is both for Mum doing it and for Santa so he doesn’t get blown away. She says she has a plan, but I’ve heard that one before.

Keep your Mum safe, Wilma. Good people are rare?
Mum says that’s brought a tear to her eye – thank you.
