Wednesday 16th August 2017 – Full of surprises

It turns out there is more to Shadow than a waggy tail and a smile. She spent yesterday writing a letter from her and Queenie to all our fellow Entlebuchers in the UK to get them to help with the fundraising for Heidi. Heidi is their granddaughter, so Shadow thought an appeal from a grandmother might get a better response from some of the others than if it came from one of the humans. To be fair to Shadow the letter took her most of the day to write and she had to come to me for help with some of it, but it was a good idea on her part. Shadow and Queenie between them are mothers to 38 of the UK population of 93 and grandmother to 21, so they are hoping that receiving a letter from their mother or grandmother might get most of the dogs to persuade their humans to take part. The grand plan is to do a sponsored walk covering the total distance it would be to walk from Entlebuch in Switzerland to the Swiss Embassy in London. The legs of the walk will be symbolic but we are going to build it all up on a map so you can see how far we’ve got. We have 552 miles to cover, so we need at least 55 dogs to walk 10 miles or more than that to do shorter legs. Only a few dogs will get to meet the Ambassador. Even though the Embassy couldn’t be more helpful, I think they would be a bit surprised if all 93 of us turned up. Wilma has put her paw up to go to the Embassy, but our Mistress says she’s going to have to prove she can behave herself first.

If you want to take part then please do email me for details if you haven’t had them directly. You can also follow all the progress and read more about what we are doing and why on the Club’s website HERE
