Monday 3rd July 2017 – Some dogs have all the fun

Don’t tell Aristotle, but it’s me that has all the fun. There was an impromptu bar b q on the village green yesterday and I got to go. I was fed up that Mum wouldn’t let me off the lead so I could go in the pond with the other dogs and children, but she pointed out that until I have learnt not to run into the road then around roads I will stay on the lead. I suppose it’s my own fault for not paying attention in my lessons. It was still nice to see so many people and soak up the atmosphere of our lovely village.

Then today I’m off to the race course for a play date with my friend Bernie. I am allowed off the lead there as it’s far enough from the roads and most of the time I just run and run with Bernie, except when I run off after other dogs or chase the seagulls or pigeons. I’ve been looking forward to this for weeks. It’s been postponed twice which has left me all the more excited about today. I don’t think Bernie is quite as excited about seeing me. He prefers playing ball to chasing me, which is a shame. I chase him instead so I still end up happy.

Mum is just happy to have a few days of better weather. She said that the cold and wet was getting her down. She’s a bit of a sunshine loving sort of human, which can be hard when you live in a country where the weather can be grey for days.

Mum has told me that now we’ve agreed I can’t have puppies I need to think about my career path. I was rather hoping she was going to overlook that, but it seems I was mistaken. I’ve decided I don’t want to be a show dog long term so now I need to consider my options. I still quite fancy therapy dog but I’ll have to work a bit harder at my training before I can do that. I’ve promised to think about it between now and my birthday as she seems think that two years old is the point I should be growing up.

Have a good week

Love Wilma
