Saturday 20th August 2016 – Back to English weather

That was my chew!

I’ve been rather enjoying having a lot of garden time and whilst it was dry Wilma and I could chase round quite happily without our Mistress worrying we’d either slide into the vegetables or do ourselves some injury. Now it’s all wet again and we’re inside watching it. I did spend some time outside in the rain with our Mistress yesterday trying to clear the pump on the fountain. She was doing the work, I was just offering advice. You know the sort of thing. Helpful comments like, ‘I wouldn’t do it like that if I were you’ without actually suggesting how I would do it. At one point I was in serious danger of having the bucket of slimy goo poured all over me, but that’s the price you pay for a bit of fun.

We have at last got the car back from repair so walks for me can start again. Because I can’t walk on tarmac I have to have a lift away from the house to go for a walk. Sadly, without the car that’s not possible. It wasn’t helped by our Mistress leaving her waterproofs in the car, and the dog seatbelt. I wasn’t so bothered that she’d left her boiled sweets, but somehow she seemed to think that was a big deal. Anyway, the car is home and is now working, although our Mistress says there will be fewer dog biscuits for a while because it was expensive to fix. I pointed out that my brothers and sisters had helped buy the car and I was sure they wouldn’t want me to cut down on dog biscuits, but apparently as that’s five years ago now it has been overtaken by other things, so my argument didn’t get very far. I think I’m going to have to ask for a massive stock of biscuits for my birthday present in a few weeks’ time.

Have fun, love Aristotle.

  1. Dear Alfie

Please tell Wilma that her half-sister Valeria is now a mother of four healthy sons, and very big and strong and lively ones, too. If she’s interested at all we’ll tell her from time to time how her nephews are doing.

My best wishes to all of you, and also to Mistress and Master.

    Susi

    • Oh, Mama, that is so exciting. Please give Valeria and all my nephews my love. Of course it would be great to have a niece in the litter too, but maybe next time.
      Love to you all
      Wilma

  2. Well, Wilma, a sad story that is. There was as a matter of fact after the three boys another puppy that wanted out. But she was very big (507 grams we found out in the end) and she was so unluckily posititoned in the birth canal that Valeria wasn’t able to press her out. Only the very experienced verterinary could help; in the end we were happy he succeeded without a cesarean.

My dautgher Valeria’s fine. She’s doing remarkably well. I’m proud of her. So all my trying to be a good example hastn’t been in vain. And of course I’m proud of my four grandsons and I’ll support Valeria with their education a much as I can. Or as much as she lets me…

    More later.

    Ciao.

    Your mother Susi

    • I’m so very sorry to hear about my niece, that is very sad. Shadow sends her love too, she says she knows how Valeria must feel.
I know you’ll teach them well, Mama and be a wonderful Grandmama.
      Love
      Wilma
