You have to be a dog breeder to find it exciting when the girl of the house starts losing her coat everywhere. Shadow is moulting. Yes that means the house is a mess and the vacuum cleaner has more work to do, but it also means we are now on the countdown to Shadow’s season starting. That in turn means that if everything goes to plan this time that means it’s the countdown to puppies. We hope so much that everything works and I think the planning might be a bit over the top in the hope that there is nothing at all to go wrong. At least the temperature won’t be minus thirteen this time! Anyway, Shadow is so far taking it all in her stride, which thankfully shows less of a limp than it has been doing. She’s getting better day by day and being looked after carefully so she doesn’t do herself any more harm. She is also excited as our Mistress says she will see if she can qualify her for next year’s Crufts. She will have to wait until after she has the puppies now as there are no suitable shows before that. She will see how the Dutch Club Show goes first to see what she thinks of it all. My Mistress was explaining to her some of what has to be done. Shadow suggested it would make it fair if the judge looked at my Mistress’s teeth as well, but somehow I can’t see that happening!
We want the warm sunny weather back. It’s still mostly dry, but that wind really gets into your bones. Our Mistress even resorted to putting the heating on yesterday and she hasn’t done that for a while. I said we should all have a duvet day, but she’d got too much to do. Friday she has said I can help her to re-varnish the office floor. Now there’s an offer that’s hard to refuse!
