We’ve had the full report on Shadow’s back and leg and it seems to be all good news. She doesn’t have a slipped disk or any other structural problem. What she does have is an enlarged nerve root and a suspected but unidentified soft tissue injury. Of course that doesn’t mean she is feeling any better, but to our Mistress’s relief it does look as though it is not going to be a long term problem, as long as she is careful and it should mean she is fine to have another litter of puppies. Our Mistress found herself feeling much more optimistic as a result of that as I think she’s been getting a bit broody. Anyway, given that Shadow is still on restricted exercise she’s not as happy as we would like but we’re trying to cheer her up and encourage her that it won’t be forever as long as she’s careful. She’s asked if she could try swimming and our Mistress is going to find out for her. She’s been to watch me and Aristotle a couple of times and said she was quite tempted to get in then. She thinks she might be a bit nervous on her first time, but having seen me overcoming my fears does make it much easier for her, which I thought was a nice thing for her to say. It probably means that she will be the one to go on the trip to the Dutch Club’s 40th anniversary show as she can take part. It would be her first show, but she says s she’d like to give it a go. I guess if she’s still limping then she will be marked down for that, but we’ll wait and see. I don’t really mind her going as I went last year. I’ll just stay at home and look after Aristotle – although you’d think now that he was big enough to look after himself.
