Now that half term is out of the way we are back to having a log fire in the office, while the rest of the house is cold during the day. That means I either need to be sociable or cold. I’m trying sociable, but I can’t see it lasting. Shadow is fed up because she is back sleeping in her own bed in our room rather than on the bed with Andy and I’m now back to waking up a little earlier in the morning, which is not totally pleasing our Mistress. Only Aristotle seems to glide on through life without these little changes bothering him. I last saw him sitting in front of the freezer with various things he had found around the house contemplating how he might open the door. I’ve seen him at work and I’m guessing it won’t take him long. I’ve been contemplating challenges I might suggest to him for his next project. I’d like him to move on to develop an artificial hand that can scratch our lower backs any time of day or night at our own choosing. Humans are all very well, but there is a limit to how long they will do it for and there is, regrettably, no limit to how long I can enjoy it being done. Inevitably there is that moment of disappointment when a human stops and try as you might you cannot get them restarted again. Granny is probably the best back scratcher, so if Ari could model something on Granny that would work well. In the meantime I’m looking forward to getting the real Granny on the job next week when I go and stay with them for Crufts. It’s unfortunate that Ari isn’t coming too so he could draw up some plans, but he has to stay and be in charge at home as he went to Crufts the last three years.
