Right, I’ve got two pairs of tickets to give away for Crufts. They allow you to go on an y one day of the show which runs from Thursday 5th March to Sunday 9th March at the NEC near Birmingham. All you have to do for your chance to win a pair of tickets is email me at alfie@alfiedog.me.uk and tell me which day the Working Breeds will be judged. I’m from a working breed so you’ll be able to find a clue in some of what I say later. Please include your name and address in your entries so that we can send your tickets out if you win and get your entries to me by Wednesday 18th February.
Crufts is not just about dog showing. It’s really about everything dog – and I mean EVERYTHING! There are over 400 stands selling and providing information on just about everything and it’s great because there are always offers on and our Mistress can’t resist buying things for us. Then of course there is Discover Dogs with over 200 different breeds of dog for you to meet. Whether you are looking for a new dog to join your family or live somewhere you can’t have a dog, then it is a great place to meet us all and spend some real quality time getting to know us all. Of course there are the show rings too, but not just for traditional dog showing, although there are 22,000 dogs competing there and that is a lot of dogs! There is agility, obedience, dancing with dogs and so many other things. Everywhere you turn there is something different going on. My favourite is seeing the Young Kennel Club members working with their dogs. It makes me so proud to see all those dogs have taught their youngsters.
Anyway, our breed (and if you haven’t been keeping up – I’m an Entlebucher) has only been able to compete in the main show since last year and even now we aren’t eligible to win the whole thing, although you mark my words we’ll be there one day, just you wait and see. Anyway, our classes this year will be in ring 22 of hall 4 on Friday. We come under Any Variety Imported Register (Working) – it’s a bit of a mouthful. Young Basil (Torfheide Beethoven from Shadow’s B litter) will be there and we’ll be cheering for him. We know of some of our breed who are coming from France to compete too. Sadly we don’t think the Russian dogs are coming this year as things are not going so well with the economy over there and it make it much more expensive for them to come. We’ll be thinking of them though.
If you want to buy tickets now you can do that HERE, but why not enter our competition and see if you can win some. You really must come and meet our breed at Discover Dogs if you do. Shadow would love to see you.
