Lazy weekends are normally more Alfie’s style than mine, but I must say I did quite enjoy having a long lie in yesterday. I did get up for breakfast but then went straight back to bed and stayed there most of the morning. Our Mistress was the only one actually doing anything and to be honest every time I thought about it I felt tired. She said that by her standards she was having a relaxing day and it was nice not to be rushing off anywhere.
We did sit down and have a discussion about this week. We’ve got builders coming in for a couple of days and she was asking what I wanted to do. They are going to be working right by the office and there isn’t a door between where they will be and where I normally sit with our Mistress. She has a strong suspicion that I might rather hinder progress. After giving it some thought I couldn’t help but agree. It is my job to check out everything that people coming into our house do. Now whilst they might not want someone looking over their shoulder (and I can when I stand on two legs) to check the lines are straight, I do feel it’s my duty. Our Mistress said that I could choose between sitting ‘quietly’ in the other room with Shadow or going to kennels for a couple of days. What kind of a choice is that to give a dog? Oh it’s all right for Alfie he will just sniff them and then go and sit out of the way, which in my book is not doing his job properly! Anyway, I said if she’d just check on Monday which days they will be here and for how long I’d probably rather go to kennels as sitting still and being quiet all day just aren’t my thing. I’ve asked if Mum can go with me to keep me company, but I’ve been told to wait and see. Anyway, I’m off back to bed again. Have a lovely Sunday,
Aristotle.
