It’s Aristotle here. I get to write an extra day because Alfie is resting after his trip to the vet. He’s ok. We won’t get the results of his tests for a couple of days, but we’re optimistic. He was falling over from the sedative, which I thought was quite funny until our Mistress had a serious word with me. I was already in trouble, but I’ll come back to that in a minute. I was sent off into the other room so he could have some quiet and comfort without being bothered. Honestly, you’d think I was a problem dog the way they talk to me! Shadow on the other paw earned lots of brownie points by missing Alfie and being really sad while he wasn’t here. I tried to cheer her up with a game of tug, but I could tell her heart wasn’t in it.
While Alfie was at the vet the man came to do the work on the fence that we’ve been waiting for. I was a bit of a nightmare ‘apparently’ as I wouldn’t stop barking. I don’t like strangers in our garden that I have not preapproved. Given that there was a chunk of fence missing our Mistress wouldn’t let me out in the garden to cause trouble so I had to do it from inside. On the up side, when he’s finished our garden will be bigger. That doesn’t sound quite right, it will be the same size garden but there will be more we can play in and some mature trees for Alfie to pee on so that he is more likely to leave the other ones alone. This is only the beginning of the work, I’m not sure what happens as the next stage but I know there is going to be more vegetable planting when it’s all finished and that’s the bit I’m looking forward to.
