Aristotle’s training is progressing. He has added right turn to his repertoire, or at least is starting to. However, he will only sit outdoors under duress. It reminds me of me. My excuse has always been my eczema, but that doesn’t work for Ari. He just says he doesn’t want to get his delicate bottom damp. In answer to why he won’t lie down outdoors he looked all cute and said he needed my Mistress to demonstrate exactly what she meant. As she was not prepared to lie on the muddy stony ground he said how could she expect him to. When you’re working with a dog that bright you don’t stand a chance of coming out on top. I’m half expecting him to spend twenty minutes busy in the kitchen before they go out and to start offering our Mistress tasty little chunks of something if she will do what he asks her. I dread to think where that could end up. He might be most successful with a blueberry pancake, but steak would be good too.
It has turned cold and my Mistress is thinking wistfully of the squirrel who was in the garden a few weeks ago and wondering a) whether it is hibernating yet and b) if there is room for her to join it. She’s not a fan of the cold. She does seem to have mastered leaving the stove burning low enough to be able to get it going again when she gets back, which is a bonus. The only problem is that with the stove going all day the office is too warm and she gets drowsy. She is concluding she may be better to light it for an hour in the morning and then another one later in the day if she starts to feel the chill again, at least until the temperature drops a little further.
