Thursday 11th September 2014 – Another Exciting Day

We started with the question ‘Do you want to go up the Niesen or on a boat on Lake Thun?’ That was easy. I wanted to go up the Niesen. I’ve got a lovely book that my Mistress read with me about the Niesen Fox who goes up to light the lamp on the top. Anyway, I said Niesen so we went on the lake! It just goes to show that I don’t get a lot of say in the decisions round here. To be fair, I did enjoy going on the boat on the lake and it was very relaxing with not too much walking. I also was very happy to have another special ticket which said ‘hund’, ok it was a pain having to pay, but it was nice to be recognised in my own right. The boat went from Faulensee to Interlaken and then after a wander and a drink it went back again.

The afternoon was exciting in a different way. I got to meet the vet that looked after Shadow when her chip failed three years ago. He wasn’t actually the vet I was seeing for my passport check but he came in to meet me and say hello to my Mistress anyway.

After all that came the sad bit and my Mistress having to say goodbye to Megan. It was never going to be easy and they were both pretty choked up. Megan was promising to write and my Mistress was promising if she ever had a problem all she had to do was call and my Mistress would go to her at once. It’s the same promise she has made to every one of Shadow’s puppies, and I know she means it. Megan said she would try to be a good girl and make the most of the opportunity she has. My Mistress and Megan will never forget each other and hopefully next summer, when Megan has had a proper chance to settle in, my Mistress will go to see her and make sure she is ok. It’s a hard decision but hopefully the right one in the long term.
