We went for a lovely meal in the Bedford Swan Hotel yesterday, well, when I say meal, it was sandwiches and when I say ‘we’ I wasn’t actually eating, but you get the idea. Then we went for a walk by the river. I went past a little girl in a push chair and she just looked at me and screamed. She made me jump. It left me wondering what it was about me that she found scary. I wasn’t very close to her and I was being very quiet. I looked at myself in the mirror when I got home just to make sure I couldn’t see anything that was too alarming. To be fair, she also screamed when the two dogs behind me went past as well and then I had an argument with one of them, but that was partly because I was concerned that I might look scary. I was soon cheered up by an ice cream. I finished mine and did tell Andy I could manage his if he couldn’t but as it turned out he could.
I wasn’t included in last night’s meal as it was a restaurant which didn’t take dogs. It’s frustrating, but in this country there are still a lot of places which haven’t seen the light. I was as good as gold in the place at lunchtime. Ok, so I might have begged just a little bit, but not much. There was a bit of lettuce on the floor that I presumed I was going to be allowed, but it turned out I was mistaken. I’m hoping to make up for it at our lunch venue today which is thankfully ‘dog friendly’. I was brought my own drink yesterday lunchtime so I’m going to be judging them against that standard.
