I’m all packed and ready to go. I may need to wait for my Mistress to get up, but that is a minor detail. I almost felt bad that D’Artagnan was going to be missing out on this trip, but as I said to him, ‘I don’t need a stand-in if I’m going myself’. He’s in charge at home, being marginally more responsible than any of the others.
The first stop today is at my grandparents, which is always fun as I get spoilt. Then we head off to stay at a hotel near the Dartford Tunnel. To be fair, I’ve stayed in better places, but this one is convenient and there aren’t many hotels around there that take dogs so we didn’t have a lot of choice. It’s a real bugbear of mine, how hotels will accept unruly children that make a lot of mess and noise, but won’t accept a well behaved dog who has never done any damage in a hotel at all, and I’ve stayed in a few.
I didn’t bother going for a walk yesterday. I took one look at the weather and said I’d give it a miss. Between the thunder and lightning and the very heavy rain, it just didn’t seem such a bright idea. I has an awful lot of sleeping to get in anyway, so it was hard to find the time. Ari went swimming without me and said that swimming home was nearly an option as the downpours of water were almost enough. He and Shadow are fed up now that they aren’t coming, but they have had trips without me, so I don’t feel in the list big guilty. I’m a bit apprehensive about having to spend the week with Bella, she’s the dog of the friend who is going with my Mistress. I just hope that she will respect an older dog and not give me too much grief. I’d like a week to enjoy not being bossed about by Shadow and Ari without another dog taking over for them.
