Friday 8th August 2014 – What does she expect?

Every once in a while my Mistress finds the ‘tests’ that people post on Facebook to be irresistible. Yesterday she gave in to ‘How sane are you’. She did not need to do the test to find out, I could have answered that for her. Let’s be honest, she has a dog who writes a diary, thinks nothing of driving 880 miles to Switzerland and spends her life writing or publishing fiction. Anyway, she did the test and scored 84%. She is now delighted that she is not completely insane and claims it gives her scope for greater eccentricity. The fact that that is a higher percentage than anyone she knows has not entered her head as being strange.

The robin came into the office again. This time when faced with being wrapped in a towel and assisted to the window it declined. It said if she really didn’t mind could it just sit on her hand for a while to get its breath back and then would she lift it to the window. My Mistress duly obliged and it sat quite happily looking round. She was almost at the point of having to remind it to fly off before it actually took flight. Meanwhile, one of our neighbours took a photo of all the swallows lined up on the telegraph wires on our road ready to fly off to Africa. My Mistress felt quite emotional thinking our little swallow family were probably among them and hoping they would all stay safe until the spring. I can see her throwing a welcome home part when they get back. She will have the finest swallow food ready and waiting and some extra bits to line their nests.

I’m keeping a low profile today. Shadow and Aristotle are fed up that they aren’t coming on our trip. I suppose my indecisiveness on what to pack may not be helping, but I don’t know what the weather is going to be like and I do want to look my best.
