Holidays are not the good thing they are made out to be. All you do is end up under more pressure before you set off. You try to do the work for the time while you will be away before you set off. Then anything you don’t get done has to be added to the work in the week you come back. It’s all right telling me I should have finished the first draft of my manifesto before I go away, but there have been naps to have and they won’t have themselves. There is only so much I can fit in. I did decline my walk today in an attempt to catch up, although I don’t think the gesture was appreciated. My Mistress said something about how she had been looking forward to the fresh air and perhaps Ari would be more appreciative which, as it turned out, he was. I was just feeling tired after my weekend and needed a little extra time to be quiet in a corner somewhere and rest my eyes. I do need to build my strength up for next week. I’ve got a lot of travelling to do and I need to be at my best for the members of my family I will be seeing. It doesn’t do to meet your half-sister for the first time and start yawning because you are tired.
After my observation that it might be the absence of the chair by the window which was causing birds to fly into it, the chair has been moved back to the window for the rest of the summer. I think there may need to be a bit more furniture moving as my Mistress is now complaining she can’t see the bird feeder on the summer house and she has been enjoying watching the birds.
