Today is the perfect day for a fire. It is cold and frosty and I’d love to warm my paws by the new stove. The only problem is that we can’t use it for 24 hours until all the sealants have dried out. That means no fire until at least 2.20 this afternoon. I shall be watching the clock and will nudge my Mistress at the appropriate time. She says it would be better to leave it until tomorrow but I think she can be persuaded.
A frosty morning is not really the day to take a car to the garage that has been sitting doing nothing for three years. The brakes will inevitably be a little rusty. My Mistress is going to ring the garage and say she will bring it as soon as the frost clears. She has no wish to have too exciting a journey. I shall be worrying until she’s home again.
We heard from Otto (Chekov) last night. He’s doing very well and being a good puppy. He’s sleeping through the night and doing his best to learn his toilet training. Of course my Mistress loved all the puppies equally but she did get especially close to Otto and she’s still missing him, so it was very good to hear from him. Here’s an action photo from when he was with us.
I’ve got to cope with my Mistress and Aristotle packing to go to Crufts tomorrow. I hate it when the suitcase comes out and tend to go all clingy and insecure. I know she will come back to me and I know I can’t go because I don’t like crowds or people playing with my ears… or other dogs… but that isn’t the point. I don’t want to be left at home in charge of things here. I want to be with her, that’s my place. So I’m a little jealous of Aristotle but at the same time glad he will be there to look after her.
