Yesterday was just the best. I woke up early and even though it was only just gone 5am I was allowed to get into bed with my Mistress. To be fair, Shadow tried to get in first but my Mistress knows the difference between us and sent her back to her own bed. It was either that or she had to wake my Master, and he’s not usually very appreciative of that. I had some lovely cards and birthday messages and we went for a walk on the old airfield in the afternoon. It’s great living round here, there are so many places to go where you don’t see another soul for the whole time you are out and you can walk for miles if you want to. When we got home we went and snuggled up upstairs, undisturbed by the others. I then said what I’d really like is a good brushing as I seem to have a lot of loose hair at the moment, so we went outside and I was brushed for as long as I wanted, which was quite a long time. Then I had steak and a film to watch in the evening. All in all it was the sort of day that makes getting older worthwhile. I wish I could have days like that more often, but I guess they wouldn’t seem special then.
My start on the Pet Dogs Democratic Party manifesto was a little marred by the computer getting into a tiz because my Mistress’s mail file is too big and snarled everything up. I ended up having to try to reduce that for her so that it would all work. I did look at a couple of the manifestos of the real parties and got quite a surprise. It’s amazing that anyone votes for the Green Party here. Their manifesto has less concrete policy than we have. It says things like ‘Education – oh yes we think that’s a good idea’. I may be exaggerating slightly but not to any great extent. The pictures look like Microsoft clip art put together by someone at school. It made me confident that if we do this right we could gain a large share of the votes.
