Wednesday 13th November 2013 – Happy birthday to me

Dear Esther, Rameses, Ebba, and Emma – happy birthday to all of you from your loving brother Alfie. I hope you all have everything you could have dreamed of for your birthdays. I’m quite excited as I’ve seen the steak in the fridge and I know at least some of it is for me. After she’s been to the dentist this morning, my Mistress is going to put up a ‘do not disturb’ sign and spend the afternoon with me. I’m really looking forward to it and then in the evening we’re going to watch a film together, although the others will be part of that too.

I’m making progress pulling together the manifesto of the Pet Dogs Democratic Party. If you can think of any important policies I may have missed please do email me. I don’t want to be one of these fake parties that has to buy its policies off the shelf as it really only has one issue. I want to put something together that will stack up at the next election. I’m not absolutely sure I can see how the whole economic policy is going to work, but why should I worry neither can any of the recent Governments. I know some things I would spend less on and of course there are several things that will cost rather more. I can’t very well cut services to humans in order to pay for them as until I can bring about electoral reform I’m dependant on humans to vote us into power. I’ve not even got onto thinking about which dogs should be given the vote. Obviously not Jack Russells and I’m guessing it might be wasted on many of the toy breeds, but what about dogs in kennels? Should they lose their right to vote just because they have been incarcerated? I suppose those staying for holidays should be included, but probably not the long term inmates. I’ve got so much to think about.
